Welcome to Monroe County, GA

Old Brent Road Bridge Fully Re-Opens to the Public on Friday, Dec. 12

The Old Brent Road bridge, which has been out of service since April 2022, officially re-opened to the public this afternoon (Friday, Dec. 12).

Greenville-based McCoy Grading wrapped up today a $1.75 million project that included the installation of a new 4,480 square-foot prefabricated concrete bridge over Todd Creek. Monroe County received in 2023 a $794,930 state grant through the Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank (GTIB) that paid for approximately half of the project cost.

Monroe County Commissioners want to thank McCoy Grading, District 1 Commissioner Lamarcus Davis, who championed the project, Monroe County Engineers Don Carter and Joe Wood, who prepared the specifications for the project, and Monroe County Public Works Director Kimbel Stokes and Monroe County Road Superintendent Gary Futch, who oversaw the project, for their efforts in ensuring that Old Brent Road and Moreland Road residents have effective access to and from their homes.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Old Brent Road bridge will be held in early 2026.
