The Monroe County Board of Commissioners’ meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025 is being re-located to the Monroe County Fine Arts Center at 27 Brooklyn Ave., Forsyth, GA 31029.
Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners’ meeting was originally scheduled to be held at the Monroe County Conference Center, where the Planning & Zoning meeting was held on Monday, July 28. However, after receiving a complaint from an anonymous complainant concerning a potential violation of the Conference Center’s occupancy maximum, the Forsyth Fire Department planned to cap the number of persons allowed into the meeting room of the Conference Center on Tuesday at 350 persons.
In an effort to ensure that as many persons are able to attend Tuesday’s meeting as desired, the Monroe County Board of Commissioners has received permission from Monroe County Schools to move Tuesday’s meeting to the 1,200-seat Fine Arts Center.
We apologize in advance for the inconvenience this change may cause, but we believe it is the appropriate solution for ensuring that our citizens have the most comfortable experience at Tuesday’s meeting. This should virtually guarantee that all citizens who attend will have seating available as was not the case at Monday’s P&Z Meeting.
Thank you to Monroe County Schools for accommodating the Board of Commissioners on this move.
