The Monroe County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce the appointment of Lorri Robinson Byrd as County Manager, effective Feb. 1, 2026.
As anticipated, the Monroe County Commissioners unanimously approved Mrs. Robinson Byrd’s appointment during the Board’s regularly scheduled meeting last night (Tuesday, Sept. 9).
Mrs. Robinson Byrd currently serves as Monroe County’s Financial Director and Deputy County Manager, bringing extensive experience in public administration, fiscal management, and operational leadership. She has been instrumental in guiding the County’s financial stability, improving departmental coordination, and implementing strategic initiatives that support Monroe County’s long-term growth.
Mrs. Robinson Byrd will succeed Jim Hedges, who will retire on Jan. 31, 2026 after seven-plus years of dedicated service as County Manager. Mr. Hedges previously announced his retirement, and the Board expresses its deep gratitude for his steadfast leadership, professionalism, and commitment to the citizens of Monroe County.
“Lorri’s proven leadership, deep knowledge of County operations, and commitment to fiscal responsibility make her exceptionally well-qualified to serve as our next County Manager,” said Alan Gibbs, Monroe County Commission Chairman. “We are confident she will continue to build on the solid foundation established under Jim Hedges’ leadership.”
In her new role, Mrs. Robinson Byrd will oversee all County operations, manage departmental leadership, and work closely with the Board of Commissioners to implement policies and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for Monroe County residents.
The Board extends its congratulations to Mrs. Robinson Byrd and looks forward to working with her in this new capacity.
