Due to anticipated weekend winter weather, including freezing rain that could severely impact county roads, Monroe County is closing all non-essential government offices and services all day on Monday, Jan. 26.
Non-essential offices and services that will be closed on Monday include the Monroe County Landfill and all Monroe County Recycling Centers.
Essential personnel, which includes public safety, emergency management, and critical operations teams, will continue to report as scheduled.
We will keep monitoring the situation, but we anticipate that all government offices and services will return to normal hours on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
We urge all citizens to stay off of our roads on Sunday and Monday, if at all possible, during what is expected to be the worst of the icy conditions.
